Mission
Our mission is to equip contractors to accurately quantify IAQ concerns specifically those pertaining to health, comfort, and safety and effectively present equipment solutions for a healthy home. We continually advance our program through investment in sensor technology, comprehensive reporting, and specialized contractor training to maintain our standing as the premier program tailored for the trades.​

In the 1990s, John Skardon was searching for a way to help his wife manage her severe asthma. She could experience a life-threatening attack when exposed to particles and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that could not be detected by sight or smell. John designed an affordable device for measuring such indoor air quality (IAQ) parameters, and, in 1999, founded AirAdvice™ to make his product available to the public.

Co-founder Meindert Kleefstra, an electrical engineer, pioneered techniques and equipment to build the first prototype of the AirAdvice IAQ monitor, and he is still with AirAdvice today.

In the early 2000s, AirAdvice partnered with Honeywell and then Lennox Industries to equip their contractors with AirAdvice monitors. Those relationships continue today. AirAdvice also partners with other HVAC manufacturers, including Carrier, Bryant, Daikin, Goodman, and Amana. Partnerships have expanded to include Aeroseal and National Radon Defense.

While AirAdvice has evolved over our first 25 years, our core commitments remain unchanged. We proudly maintain the tradition of designing, manufacturing, and calibrating our monitors in the USA. Our foundational goal is to train contractors to improve homeowners’ living standards and grow their own businesses. AirAdvice acts as a growth catalyst for contractors, empowering them to offer homeowners a clear understanding of their indoor environment. This is achieved through the use of calibrated equipment, objective 3rd-party data, and professional guidance for making indoor air quality improvements.
