About AirAdvice for Homes

Mission
Our mission is to enable contractors to quantify indoor air quality health, comfort, and safety issues in the home, and present equipment solutions to the homeowner. AirAdvice is the premier IAQ program in the marketplace. We constantly improve our program through continuous investment in sensor technology, reports, and contractor training.

History
In the 1990s, John Skardon was searching for a way to help his wife manage her severe asthma. She could experience a life threatening attack when exposed to particles and volatile organic compounds (“VOCs”) that could not be detected by sight or smell. John designed an affordable device for measuring such indoor air quality (“IAQ”) parameters, and, in 1999, founded AirAdvice™ to make his product available to the public.

Co-founder Meindert Kleefstra, an electrical engineer, built the first prototype of the AirAdvice IAQ monitor, and is still with AirAdvice today.
In the early 2000s, Airadvice partnered with Honeywell and Lennox Industries to equip their contractors with AirAdvice monitors. Those relationships continue today. AirAdvice also partners with other HVAC manufacturers, including Carrier, Bryant, Daikin, Goodman, and Amana.

AirAdvice Today
Our current M5200 IAQ monitor was launched in 2016, and is our only monitor in production. The earlier M5000 and M5100 models (launched in 2003 and 2005 respectively) are still supported.
While there have been many changes since we began, a few things have remained the same: Our monitors are still made in the USA, just like they were 20 years ago, and AirAdvice continues its original mission of helping contractors improve the quality of life for homeowners while growing their businesses.
